Danny Boyle comes Home

Having worked at Cornerhouse for over a decade (variously as usher, box office manager, and quizmaster) I’ve been itching to see how the new HOME Manchester build is getting on. So when I was asked to photograph HOME patron Danny Boyle’s visit to the site, I was only too happy to oblige. A group of three BFI graduates, along with Danny and one of the board members were led round the site by Dave Moutrey, director of HOME. It was fascinating seeing the sheer scale of the building - five cinemas, restaurant, theatres and gallery spaces. Then, back to First Street where Danny held court with a large group of more BFI graduates, and then was guest of honour at a fundraising event with local businesses.
You hear a lot about Danny Boyle being an all-round good egg, and I have to say it’s all true. It was a pleasure to spend an afternoon in the company of the man. I predict big things for this up-and-coming film director from Radcliffe…
