Come Home: James at Castlefield Bowl
July 18, 2014First time I saw James live was at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall in 1992. They played an acoustic gig just before “Laid” was released. I’ve seen them perform live a few times since then (last time was at the Bridgewater Hall in 2011 - the version of ”The Lake” from that gig is one of the fondest memories I have of any band’s live performance) but to photograph them in Manchester was going to be a professional highlight of mine.Tim Booth had the good grace to head down to the crowd within the first three songs, so I managed to get a shot of him meeting his people. It’s a shame he didn’t dive into the crowd, as he did in later performances. Anyway, an incredible gig, from a quite brilliant band.
